ABOUT 

Rosa Sparks is a British soprano and recent graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where she studied under the tutelage of Elizabeth Ritchie. She has performed roles with top companies across the UK including Opera North and Grange Park Opera, and has sung at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, The Bridgewater Hall, the Greighallen in Bergen, and the Musikverein in Vienna. Rosa is currently a Young Artist with the International Opera Academy in Ghent, where she is soon to perform Despina in their upcoming production of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte.

Whilst completing her Masters of Music at the RNCM, Rosa won the prestigious Frederic Cox Award for Singing competition, received the Dame Eva Turner Award, and most recently won the Betty Bannerman Award for French Song with Clonter.

Rosa’s most recent operatic engagements include: Kate Pinkerton, Madama Butterfly (Grange Park Opera), Zerlina, Don Giovanni (Flat Pack Opera) and Emmie, Albert Herring (Opera North). Other roles include: Aloès, L'étoile (RNCM), Lucilla, La Scala di Seta (RNCM), Mrs Coyle Owen Wingrave (RNCM), Yum-Yum, The Mikado and First Lady and Papagena, The Magic Flute (Opera Anywhere), and, Miss Havisham, Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night (Light’s On Theatre). Rosa has a particular interest in contemporary music, and has created the leading roles of ‘The Soprano’ in Interrupted (a modern comedic opera, which premiered at the Cardiff Atmospheres Festival), and ‘The Journalist’ in Silverwood (Manchester Community Opera).

Rosa is also a regular oratorio and concert soloist. Recent solo work includes Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Ascension Oratorio, Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate, and Schubert’s Mass in Ab.
